There is a consensus with the CDC, NIH, WHO and ADA that the placement or removal of dental restorations that contain mercury result in elevated amounts of mercury in the blood and urine. Mercury is a toxic substance that has no minimal safe amounts for humans.  The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) has developed protocols  to promote mercury-free, mercury-safe, and biological/biocompatible dentistry.

In order to minimize the exposure to mercury vapor  when amalgam fillings are removed,  the IAOMT has developed a  process of drilling out amalgam fillings that minimizes patient and staff exposure when the mercury filling  liberates quantities of mercury vapor and fine particulates that can be inhaled and absorbed through the lungs. (In fact, the IAOMT does not recommend that pregnant women have their amalgams removed.) 

Dr. Marinic has been providing same day restorations for 27 years. The Primescan is the latest version and has many improvements that benefit the patient. Data acquisition is faster, easier and more precise. 

There are a plethora of dental materials available. Outside testing can be ordered for patients that have material sensitivities to determine the most biocompatible material. In addition, specific material samples can be provided to your MD or alternative health care provider to verify that the selected material will be beneficial to your overall health.

Our office has utilized numerous wavelengths of dental lasers over the last few decades. The Fotona is a duel wavelength laser that can be used on hard and soft tissues. There are numerous non ablative procedures that  do not require anesthesia.

Nightlase is a used to help reduce or eliminate snoring and make the upper airway more patent. Smoothlase  restores and increases collagen in the perioral area. This reduces wrinkles around the lips and nasolabial folds and results in patients looking 10-15 younger.   Oral herpes flair ups can be reduced or eliminated. 

Local anesthetic is required for ablative procedures, such as cavity preparation, recontouring the soft tissue and periodontal treatment.

Designed by biomedical engineers, the Ogram system eliminates tissue trauma for non impacted teeth and simplifies surgical procedures.  Dr. Marinic has used this atraumatic   technology for almost two decades  to maintain patients hard and soft tissue anatomy.  After the removal  of the tooth, sequestration is performed. This removes the remaining periodontal membrane that has an adverse effect on healing.Then the extractions site is irrigated with copious amounts of ozonated sterile saline solution. This further reduces the bacteria that may remain and removes the remnants of the peridontal membrane. 

The Ogram technique is not the fasted technique for exodontia. However, it is the most gentle, minimally invasive way to remove teeth. The use of a 3D scan is mandatory to develop an understanding of the curvature of the root anatomy so that the roots can be removed in the proper sequence.

Our office utilizes the BIO PRF centrifuge to create holistic autologous grafting products. Bio-PRF is a 100% natural and autologous three-dimensional fibrin scaffold derived from peripheral blood. Following effectivecentrifugation, platelets and leukocytes and accumulated within the upper PRF layer. Protocols utilizing using horizontal centrifugation the Bio-PRF system are able to accumulate up to 4 times more platelets and leukocytes when compared to standard fixed-angle centrifuges. There are no additives in the collection tubes. The products are 100% autologous! 

After utilizing the Ogram technique for atrumatic extractions, the PRF products are inserted in the extraction site for the ultimate natural treatment. The results are amazing. 

The GALILEOS is a revolutionary scanning device that scans only your head and neck region. The Cone Beam scanner that Dr. Marinic uses sets new standards in dental care by combining the lowest radiation dosage with superior image quality.

In just 14 seconds, the scanner will take 200 individual images, allowing Dr. Marinic to view your mouth and jaw from literally any angle, and in the smallest possible detail. The resolution produced is 500 % greater than the resolution from a medical CT scanner, and the radiation has been reduced by 95%.

This image is combined with an intraoral scan using Primescan technology to develop a virtual 3D model of the area the implant is going to be placed. Next a guide is designed and sent to a milling machine located n our office. This allows minimally invasive placement of a dental implant with amazing precision.

 Holistic minded patients that had concerns regarding trace amount of non precious metal in titanium implants can rest assured that  Ceramic Dental Implants have no metal in them. Ceramic’s high resistance to corrosion combined with the low plaque affinity minimizes the risk of inflammation.  In addition, blood flow to the gums around the implant is retained: One study found that the ceramic implant has characteristics similar to those of a natural tooth.

Biocompatibility testing is a sophisticated and scientific way to determine if a dental material is reactive to the immune system of a particular individual. We use several independent laboratories.  The laboratories  test blood serum biocompatibility for dental materials. This holistic approach allows the patient and the dentist to know ahead of time if a certain dental material has a high likelihood of reactivity with a patient. If necessary a more biocompatible material can be ordered to be used for the dental procedure.  We highly recommend that all of our patients have a current/updated biocompatibilty test completed before treatment is administered.

The test packet can be ordered online (free shipping) or picked up at our office if we have kits on hand. Patients can then follow the directions and use a local lab of their choice to have the test completed. After mailing the test to the company, the  laboratory will run the test and mail the results packet back to the patient. The patient can then bring the results to our office for the dentist to review.Once we have biocompatabilty results, we are able to use that data in conjunction with our other findings at your initial comprehensive exam to develop  your personal dental treatment plan.

Our office utilizes multiple types of specialized air filtration to protect our patients and staff.   There are three air filters that utilize ultraviolet light to destroy viruses, bacteria and fungi and HEPA filtration to remove the particles.  In addition, theses filters generate low levels of hydrogen peroxide to continuously  disinfect all surfaces including:  floors, furniture, walls, computers and the entire HVAC system. This technology was developed by NASA to protect the astronauts in the space station. Each filter is capable of protecting 3,000 square feet  of space. Our office is 2,000 square feet... and we have 9,000 square feet of coverage!

There are three IQ Air filters that are designed to filter ultra fine particles, VOC's and mercury vapors. Dental offices are unique in having to deal with mercury vapors generated when "silver" fillings are removed.  Two of theses have specialized collection devices that protect the patient and staff during dental procedures. IQ air also measures and records the air quality continuously to verify that the systems are working. The entire HVAC system was professional cleaned, disinfected  and additional air filtration was placed to ensure that the air that is circulated throughout the office remains healthy.

Dental offices typically utilize ultrasonic cleaning  baths to prepare the dental instruments for sterilization. While they are somewhat  effective in cleaning the instruments they generate an aerosol filled with bacteria, viruses and anything else in the water. Our office invested in a specialized instrument washer that not only cleans and destroys 97% of the organisms, but uses HEPA filtration to prevent air contamination. THEN THE INSTRUMENTS ARE RUN THROUGH THE STERILIZER. Each instrument bag has an indicator. Each instrument cycle is reported to the cloud. Any problems are immediately reported to the dental supply company to request service. Finally, each week a spore test is performed on each sterilized and sent to an independent laboratory for testing. 

Most dental offices are developed with an open concept. This maximizes the number of treatment rooms in a given space. We have taken a different approach by providing our patients with treatment suites. Each is an individual room with a door in the event that a patient requests privacy.
